Anne L. Broyles

Anne L. Broyles graduated from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in 1979 with a Master of Divinity degree, following her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona. She has served as a pastor at churches in California before retiring from pastoral ministry to become a writer. Her books include religious non-fiction, children’s books, and a novel. She has chaired the California-Pacific Conference on Christian Spirituality, led retreats for persons with HIV/AIDS, is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Weavings, a journal of Christian spiritual life, and is a certified member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. Broyles has received the Community Unity Award from the League of United Latin American Citizens in Los Angeles.


Howard J. Clinebell

Howard J. Clinebell graduated from Garrett Biblical Institute in 1947 with a Bachelor of Divinity degree following undergraduate work at DePauw University. He received a PhD from Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary. For 30 years he has been a professor at the Claremont Graduate School and Claremont School of Theology. An ordained United Methodist minister, Clinebell has served congregations in the Midwest, New York, and California. He is founding director of the Institute for Religion and Wholeness at Claremont and the Clinebell Institute. He is a licensed marriage, family, and child counselor, and is author or co-author of 17 books, one of which is the best selling textbook on pastoral care.
