Join us for a Let’s Talk Globally session where we share a meal and discuss a topic or issue pertinent in an international context. The point of these conversations is to inform, educate, and discuss international issues that do not always get media attention in the US. The entire Garrett community is welcome to participate! This event will be held both in-person and online.

“Problems in Paradise: The Ongoing Destabilization of Latin America’s Oldest Democracy”

Once considered the happiest country in the world, Costa Rica has been facing quickly escalating crises. Wendy Cordero Rugama will be facilitating a conversation dispelling some of the common misconceptions about Costa Rica and highlighting some of the most pressing current issues like femicide, ecological destruction, authoritarianism, and religious fundamentalism. Bring your questions and join this conversation as we (re)imagine what the Church ought to do in response to these crises.
