Doctor of philosophy student, Emanuel Padilla, has been selected as a 2022 Doctoral Fellow by the Louisville Institute. Padilla is in the theology and ethics track of the seminary’s doctoral program.

Garrett-Evangelical stretched my theological spectrum, and as a result, offered a balancing viewpoint to more theologically traditional concepts.

When Garrett-Evangelical began to offer hybrid courses, I was excited for the opportunity to be present online or in person and still have a community of colleagues present to support and influence my studies.

It is not often that we have a mom and her son graduate at the same time. We do believe this might even be a first in the seminary’s 169-year history. At the 165th Commencement, held on Friday, May 13, 2022, Jacquelyn D. Webb received her master of divinity and her son, Dr. Taurean J. Webb, received his doctor of philosophy.

I’ve found a beautiful and enriching community that seeks to honor whole persons, beyond the academic endeavors of seminary.

My time at Garrett-Evangelical was used to explore the many facets of the ministry God has planted in me, which included understanding how various societal intersections can be a great help or a great harm in how we see God.

Through my studies, I reaffirmed my commitment to preach the good news to the poor, liberation to the oppressed, and healing to the sick.
